Male Mind and Beauty
Scientific studies have shown beauty to a man is an indication of a woman's fertility. Anthropologists proposed that a shorter, full-lipped female face was more attractive to a male. The youthful female face has large eyes and plump lips and apparent size of these features peaks in the early 20s when fertility also peaks. As fertility declines, the lips become drier and shrink and wrinkles begin to deepen. The ideal face turned out to be that of a woman of 24.8 years.
Proportions in females also seem to point to fertility. The rise in oestrogen in girls gives them fuller lips. Interestingly, at 24.8 years - the age when most women achieve ideal facial proportions, is the time when oestrogen levels are highest and women are at their most fertile.
Cross-cultural studies among males and females have confirmed that women are regarded as beautiful if they have smooth skin, big eyes and plump lips. If the female face has the eyes made a little bigger, the face immediately looks more beautiful and more youthful. This is where some females begin to exaggerate anatomy in the form of big lips and large breasts. They subconsciously see it as a means of attracting the male species and gaining an edge over their female counterparts. Women are very competitive creatures, thus the bigger the weapons the better the fight.
Men from different cultures are attracted to varying types of female body, but there is one universal attraction. Men throughout the world choose mates whos hip measurements are much bigger than their waistlines. The preferred waits-to-hip ratio is 0.7 to one, that is, the waist should be 70 percent of the hip size.
This ratio holds true for ancient "Venus" figurines. Possibly the waist-to-hip ratio tells a man about a woman's health and, by extension, her fertility. Males are also attracted to symmetrical faces and unconsciously register even tiny asymmetries. It may be these tiny imperfections that make some women more beautiful to a male over another. Beauty is not perfect but personal.
